Automation to change task name
Jordan Macintyre
It would be great to have the ability to change task names through automation. When someone submits a form, it would be ideal to have the task name change to a relevant field submission from the form or similar.

Very much needed. I am recurring tasks, lists based on dates. Better if there is an option to change or edit name in the automation rule

Zach maybe this could get added to the automation wish list this season too 🙏

This would be amazing! For our teams, it is difficult to know at-a-glance what (in our case customer) a task is for. This is especially challenging in the Inbox since there isn't a way to turn on a view of the folder/list hierarchy for the incoming messages.
Adding the ability to change a task name and/or add a prefix to a task name via automation would offer flexibility yet also allow for specific naming conventions to better organize and understand our task's subject.

Would be great to have an automation for just renaming a task (example: when a task is created, rename it according to certain naming rules). Today I do this by deleting the original task and creating a new one (as create tasks automation gives me options to name it the way I like it)

Is there an ETA for this? Our organization is currently opting to manually write the task name via the form submission which is cumbersome to the individual submitting the form. Would love to be able to name this via the custom field submission.

I've seen several request for this, and it's been 5 years. I'm disappointed this hasn't been added yet.

This is good for recurrence taks with daily steps, or daily checklists

I also have tasks that have [Client] at the start and then each sub-task is [Client] with the subtask. It would save me a lot of time if this could be updated automatically across all subtasks as I currently have to do this manually.
We need the [Client] at the start of all tasks & subtasks in order to easily see who the work is for when looking at notifications (inbox and email) and on the home page. Labels don't work for this and you also can't seem to select all subtasks and assign a label in one go.

This is a pretty important feature and currently a gaping blindspot in relation to Automations. It would help to construct a Task name that's consistent and error proof, especially when coupled with Forms. The user would then only need to populate the Form fields, then the Automation could take care of the naming of the Task.
