Update May 2026: Hi everyone - this feature is still on the backlog, but we will share updates here as they are available. Thanks!

I couldn't agree more. Allthough I understand the need for custom fields to be fresh for a subtask, most of the time I'm frustrated by the oposite. Who was the customer again? Up to the main task to look - even though the field "Customer name" is right there, but blank... So a simple "inherit from parent" would do the trick - and save loads of AI-usage...

This is a very logical and practical feature that other PM tools have. Strange that Clickup hasn't enabled this.

This seems like a very logical feature. The field filler agent uses up too much AI credits to fill in fields on subtasks when the system should just allow the inheritance from the parent task.

That's pretty embarrassing. It's like selling a car without a steering wheel. It's a basic feature. Your customers have been asking for this feature since 2019. Just close the case so it doesn't get too awkward.

This is by far the most important feature to implement. It would be a huge time-saver!

Any movement? It is frustrating to lose hours on copying fields over to subtasks...

I can't wait to have this feature live to avoid manual addition each time

I beg, I plead! This seems to be all that's left to truly eliminating tool sprawl with ClickUp! 💌

Caroline Ginty, Any date to deliver this ? We would save a uge amount of time ! Thank you

Julie Babin: No date to share at this time; I'll update here as we get further into scoping. Thanks!

We recently migrated to Clickup, and this is one of the biggest gaps in functionality from our previous tool. We do a high volume of client reporting, and need certain custom fields filled out for every task. Ensuring this is done across multiple custom fields is not only very time consuming, but exposes us to risk in tasks not being updated and therefore not being included in these reports.
