Filter tasks on the My Work section of Home
John Bowman
Being able to reduce the number of tasks you need to sift through to start your day would be amazing! Allow filtering by custom fields, tags, etc.

This is an essential functionality, the UX on home page is by absence of this functionality really limited!

I'd like the ability to view the fields right on the card!

I would really like to be able to filer the "My Work" area based on location and Task Type.
Currently, My Work shows every task you are assigned to that also has a date.
But this is not ideal if you have technical tasks with dates, but that are not ACTUALLY tasks.
For example, in order to have a "block time" based calendar (where you don't schedule specific tasks, so much as block time out for certain areas you are working on), I need to create "Block A, Block B, Block C", and so on, which will have a date and time and me as assignee.
These then show up in My Work, which they shouldn't, as they are not really tasks. Really, I just want to see them on my Calendar view.
This could be achieved by:-
- Being able to filter My Work based on location.
- Being able to filter My Work based on Task Type (as I could make a new Task Type for these blocks).
- Preferably also adding the same to Calendar and "Assigned to Me", so that any other possibilities can be made.
Zach - ClickUp Has there been any internal progress on this? Personally, I have been wanting this for a number of years.

The current date grouping works well for my use-case, but it confuses me and my colleagues when we find things we added to lineup also in the my work. This duplication also means home gets quite crowded - especially for people with a lot of tasks.
It would be nice to be able to filter out lineup tasks from My Work.

Hey everyone!
I'm moving this one back to open as we want to be transparent about what's truly being worked on and/or will be worked on in the near term.
That said, Home is top of mind for us and I wanted to gather your thoughts on something we're working on: https://www.loom.com/share/5c7563f5ea6c429b9f97ff981f73bab9
Thank you!

Zach - ClickUp: The structure of My Work in Home is good for me. Grouping by dates is fine. Although, the only work that I would like to see, is what is really 'actionable'. In our opinion is that defined by:
- status should be of an active/actionable type. (or manually selected)
If you add the possibility to filter
tasks
, just as how normal lists could be filtered, it would make a tremendous effect. And just add reminders on top, if they are cousing filtering issues...Pierre Becher
Zach - ClickUp: I'm sorry but I don't get it. Just make the features that everybody knows already (filter, grouping, sorting, etc.) consistently available across the platform, also in Home. That's it, very simple. No need to add another special type of view or list whatever, which again only exists in a particular area of ClickUp. I'm voting for consistency and simplicity here.

Zach - ClickUp: Similar to Rudi's feedback, I want to be able to show only tasks that need to be worked on today/this week. We have recurring tasks that are for admin-related activities but we would rather not see them in the list of tasks under Home (since they are evergreen tasks and will be there forever).

Zach - ClickUp: Hey 👋
Current My Work heavily relies on due dates which forces you to use due date as basically a work on date. This might be good if you only have small tasks but won't work for longer tasks that might take more than one days to accomplish.
Also, what if I want to work on a task before its due date? I can go to Next but it will hold a ton of tasks without any organization.
If the goal is to make "My Work" area a place where you can make decision on what to work next then right now you very limited here.
To solve this problem I created a date custom field "Work On" that helps me to schedule task of any length on any date without changing due dates (e.g. task is due next week so I want to notice it somewhere during the current week so I will use "Work On" cf to schedule it on any day during this week).
Then I have two views: Today, Daily.
Today view shows me tasks with "Work On" Today and Daily shows all tasks with "Work On" cf set and I group all of those tasks by "Work On" In this way It's clear to me what is my plan and what is coming next and what I should focus on for Today.
This is basically my "My Work" area.
In addition to filtering by Work On I have a ton of other rules. For instance, I have another global cf checkbox "Ready" that indicates whether tasks passed Definition of Ready and I can take action on it.
In the screencast you mentioned that it will be a list within the Home page that will work similarly to a regular list.
I think this approach will definitely solve the problem for me because I would be able to add my tasks to that list and then filter in a similar fashion as I do now. Moreover, some time ago I had a separate list instead of those global views (Today, Daily) where I added tasks and filtered them based on Work On and Ready.

Pierre Becher: I agree with Pierre. Why add more views if the current ones are not complete and consistent. It's surprising that you cannot sort all fields in every view. You can't even see all your tasks in a table and sort each of the columns. ClickUp is focusing on fluff without completing the basics. Is it too much to ask to have a Table where you can add columns and sort each one of them?

I would like to have the option to be able to turn off all tasks in the Home Calendar space. I use "Line Up," "Trending," and "My Work, To Do, etc." to review my tasks, and would prefer to be able to see just my meetings and other events from my google calendar (rather than another full accounting of my tasks for the day).

Can we please please please have a 'week' view? I use due dates in many scenarios really just to plan my work for the week ahead. I just put the due date as the end of the week. I'd love to be able to see all those tasks due that week in one place and not in the 'next' list. I don't want to get to the actual day to see I need to work on those tasks.

I would like to just filter out the 'waiting on' tasks. As a manager, there are a lot of tasks that require me to review but that is dependent on other tasks being completed beforehand and these are tasks that I have no involvement on. As a result, I have lots of 'unactionable' tasks being placed on my home page because I need to wait for someone else to finish the task, which ends up being quite disruptive.

I wish the 'Home' page didn't list ALL of my subtasks as a separate entry item. Being someone with a neurodivergent mind, looking at that makes me even more unproductive and unwanting to even to the day's tasks. They should show under the main tasks or just be left out completely. Obviously there's a reason they are set as a subtask and not a main entree. Otherwise I would just have it as a task on it's own.
