Allow Dynamic links for items created from a template (e.g. links in Docs and Whiteboards to tasks in the template)
future
Jeanette Decker
[From Support Ticket]: When creating an item by applying a Space, Folder, or List template, allow that new item to dynamically update links to it in the template.
For example. We have a doc that lives in our List. We also have an @mention for that doc in our List. Lastly, we have a template created that includes this List (which would create a new doc as well as the @mention to that doc).
Once we apply the template, we get a new doc created, but the @mention still points to the original doc. We would like for it to point to the newly created doc.

Automate Whiteboard Task Relinking When Using Folder Templates
P

When creating a new folder from a template that includes a whiteboard connected to tasks within a task list, the whiteboard in the new folder currently remains linked to the original (template) tasks. This requires manual relinking of each whiteboard item to the newly created tasks in the new folder’s task list.
It would be extremely helpful if ClickUp could automatically remap or relink the whiteboard’s connected tasks to the new tasks generated by the template process. This would save significant manual effort, ensure accuracy, and streamline onboarding or project setup workflows that rely on templates with visual task mapping.
Ideal Behavior:
When a folder template containing a whiteboard and a task list is used to create a new folder, the whiteboard in the new folder should automatically connect to the corresponding new tasks in the new task list (not the original template tasks).
This would allow teams to use whiteboard-driven workflows at scale, without needing to manually update connections every time a new project or client folder is created.
Use Case Example:
A client onboarding template includes a whiteboard that visually maps out the process and links to each step’s task. When a new client folder is created from this template, the whiteboard should automatically link to the new client’s tasks, not the template’s tasks.

Pranav Dhamala Thank you for your feedback. I'm going to merge your request into an existing feature request for dynamic linking.

Our team has templates with a large number of tasks that have links in their description field to other tasks within the same template. With over 200 tasks in our template, it is unreasonable to edit them all with each template launch.
It causes chaos when the links in the task body don't point to the right project.
P.S. I left the same comment in this task, which seems related: https://feedback.clickup.com/feature-requests/p/list-templates-and-task-descriptions-w-relative-linkage

This is ultra important to us! We are currently trying to make this work by using make.com, but ClickUp should just ask me when posting a page/doc link inside a task description, whether this link should be treated as static oder dynamic.

Contain links to docs within a temaplate.

If a Doc is created as a view for a list. And links to different pages in that doc are added to different tasks within that list. And that whole list is used to make a Template...it would be great if the links would stay connected to the doc within the newly created list. Instead they link back to the doc from which the template was made. We need everything contained within one list every time we repeat our process.

Include task links in templates

Agree. We create templates from folders with several lists and docs, which has multiple internal links and embedded views. However, everything needs to be "re-linked" when a new instance is created from the template folder.
Would love if the links were relative ("this folder"/list name) instead of absolute (pointing to the original list).

update mention links used in templates (and duplicates)

When using mentions in templates, or duplicating stuff, those mentions still refer to the same elements. In my case I want to use Space templates or duplicate Spaces. What I need is an option to update all the internal mentions of that Space to the newly created one.
Even mentions to Docs which are integrated in that Space are not updated, braking any possibility to use mentions in Templates (and duplicates).
