All instances of Recurring Tasks visible in calendar [Unlimited+ Plans]
complete
With all recurring events visible in the calendar, one can see if a future appointment can be scheduled. IF the next recurring event does not appear, there is a high opportunity for scheduling events on top of each other. If this is not clear, I can provide a couple of use cases.

Zeb: This is awesome, thank you! An additional request...
Let's say I have a recurring task to check/respond to emails. I know that on a particular future date I will need to send someone an email. Currently, if I click on the preview of the future task in calendar view, it goes to the original task, and I suppose this is expected behavior as you don't want to create an infinite amount of tasks every time someone sets up a recurring task, but in the scenario I described it would be helpful to be able to add a note or something to that future task. So maybe a solution would be adding an option to actually create a certain amount of the future tasks, OR when clicking on a preview task, offering an option to create that task. Does that make sense?

Zeb: I can activate the option, but the week or month only shows me the tasks once. Yes I deleted the Brwoser cache and yes I used the new function for recurring tasks...

Becky Hile: First, this is a great feature, thanks so much! Second, I agree with Becky - in my case am using Clickup for a shift calendar, and would be helpful to be able to assign future instances to different people. Right now whoever's assigned to the current task is assigned to all. As of now the only way to get this function is manually duplicate all the shifts every month... unless I suppose we create a template - just thought of that. But the recurring function would be easier... thank you for considering!!

Samuel Schneider: Hm email help@clickup.com please

Zeb: it is fixed now. Thanks!

Becky Hile: Agreed, I think this is a really sensible option.

Zeb: That’s awesome, cannot wait to add a load of repeating tasks on the calendar on ClickUp!

I too was excited to see the new recurring tasks roll out. It is an improvement in a lot of ways but I still need the Legacy settings to schedule recurrences independent of the status of the original task. However, since they don't show up on any of the views, I don't know if I'm successful in scheduling the recurrences or not. Looking forward to seeing if this can be fixed soon! I really hope the functionality of Google Calendar repeating tasks can be mirrored so we can have that basic structure along with all the sophistication of ClickUp.

Zeb will this be fixed any time soon? We need to be able to see recurring tasks using legacy features in calendar view.
Waleed Elaghil
Hey Chaya Gutnick! Our current Legacy Recurring option is not compatible yet, but we're working on a complete re-design for it. I'll make sure to surface this to the team 🙂
Dominique Pijnenburg
Waleed Elaghil: Looks like the new recurring feature has been made available. I do see the recurring events in the ClickUp Calendar, but I don't see the future recurring tasks appear in my MacOS Calendar app. Apart from the first in line, of course.
Did I configure it right?
Dan Reynolds
Dominique Pijnenburg: looks like this functionality hasn't been added to the native mobile apps yet. https://feedback.clickup.com/new-mobile-app/p/calendar-does-not-show-past-events-or-recurring-events
Dominique Pijnenburg
Dan Reynolds: Yeah but I'm actually talking about the agenda subscription that can be used in external calendar apps (like MacOS Calendar)
Dan Reynolds
Dominique Pijnenburg: I'm sorry I missed that. I think this feature request was just for the calendar in ClickUp. I'm not aware of anyway to show recurring items outside of ClickUp because those tasks aren't actually created or moved to that due date yet.

Zeb You delivered an ingenious update! Great how you listen to the feedback and how close your ear is to your customers! Please keep up the good work.
With the Recurring Tasks 2.0 I thought that the option mentioned here is also possible. Is there any roadmap for this?

Zeb:
Agree, great update!
The only thing that I would suggest is to rename
"Use legacy recurring"
to
"Use advanced options"
New users will have no legacy reference point.
Zeb
Samuel Schneider: We are very close, should released next week 🙏
Samuel Schneider
Zeb: Just cool. Top, thanks for the input! You like to wait there...

That's the reason I still used google calendar for planning - with dates and recuring tasks, I know exactly how should I spend my time on doing something

I understand the need for this but I would like the option of leaving those multiple recurring tasks out of the task view - just want the next task in line to show. Certainly needs to show all recurring tasks in at least the calendar view.

I too assumed scheduled recurring events would be visible in the calendar and Gantt views as that's the point of scheduling them! I prefer them to be left out of other views but it is imperative that they be visible in calendar and Gantt views.

I am extremely disappointed to learn that recurring tasks do not show in the calendar view. This is the whole point of project management apps!!! To see all of your tasks so you can manage your time! It makes NO SENSE to me that a recurring task would not show in your timeline. Based on this, I would very much urge you to make this an option.....seems pretty ridiculous and I am very disappointed to have made a company transition to ClickUp and now learn that one of the most basic things is not possible.

Any idea on when this will be available?
Benjamin
Is this close to launch then?
