I'm having the same issue. I have to select "As separate tasks" THEN select "Expand all". If I do it in that order, I see all closed tasks. Otherwise I have to filter through hundreds of Subtasks that have no grouping or order. Would be great if we had the option to leave and not have to have my entire Project with hundreds of rows expanded.

Do you have the options for "Show as separate tasks" and "Show Closed Subtasks" enabled?

but I confirm that the problem only happens in Option "subtask: show: expand all"
...meanwhile solved!
The error was happening when you include in the filter the Status.
In that case the "show closed tasks /subtasks" option disappears...
I was trying to make the Show by making a fiilter with all Status...

@Jason Dale: Thanks Jason for starting this. I sent another bug report with the following information. I can confirm that subtasks don't expand when "Subtasks: Show" is enabled, the one that has the definition of "As separate tasks". If I switch over to "Collapse all" or "Expand all", the bug is not there.
