Lock time tracking by date range
Angela Mondor
Once the information from the tracking has been used for billing/payroll, the admin can lock the data so that only an admin can change the previous data.

Locking time after billing would be VERY helpful. Until then, it's hard to trust the time sheets data. Until then, I have to use the API to copy the data to a google sheet as a backup which is very time consuming.
I would be happy with a general rules/validation system where we can define a formula for what is locked, so we can also decide to block logging time on tasks that are not in an approved status.

Honestly, surprised this wasn't a feature of the time track. We use the billable reports for invoicing and we can't allow changes after a period of time. We are pushing for training and correcting behavior but this should be a system lock.

Make it possible to lock time for the previous period so members cannot add time entries after a given date.

Needed to lock so items can't change after we submitted billing to client

Make it possible to change only for some time by the user and then some other range for admins.

There should be a provision for the admin to set a lock on the time tracking entries for members and guests. Currently the billable feature deems futile since the entries can be changed at any given point in time.
Also, the historic entries of removed members should be shown.

It's entirely impossible to use time tracking entries to calculate billable hours when anyone can just go in and edit anyone else's time entries. There should be a proper permissions scope for who is allowed to edit time entries.

Logging time should support lock periods:
- lock the day on next business day
- lock the past week on first business day of new week
- lock month on the first business day of next month.
And after an employee forgot to log the time and date is locked, manager should be able to reopen lock for that employee for couple hours, for specific locked period (date, or week, or month)

This is extremely important for billing. Without time entry locking, it's impossible to approve time on a job and know that it will still be the same by the time it gets to billing.

John Thorne: Agreed! It's also important for us for historical reference as some times billing and time questions come up months down the road. We need to know that information is protected.
